ACRF Facility

About our Facility

The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) Facility for the Molecular Genetics of Cancer was established in 2004. It was designed to facilitate the search for cancer susceptibility genes and to provide an additional capability in identifying the molecular genetic mechanisms involved in the acquisition and development of cancer.

Since then the facility has developed into a Garvan Core Facility for high throughput services covering the areas of Sequencing, Mouse Genotyping, SNP Genotyping, Methylation Quantification and Gene Expression Analysis. A diversity of platforms is available within the facility to enable research within and outside of the Garvan / St. Vincent Precinct. The goals of the facility are aimed at high-throughput, sensitivity, accuracy and cost effectiveness.

Additional to the latest technology equipment within the facility there are now several new services available for all researchers in NSW. In collaboration with the Australian BioResource’s Rodent Facility in Mossvale the ACRF Facility offers a DNA Preparation and Mouse Genotyping Service based on Realtime and Meltcurve Analysis.
